Lighthouse Treatment Center Hosts a Medieval Thanksgiving for its Alumni

December 03, 2019 - /PressAdvantage/ - Anaheim, California – As part of its alumni program, the Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol recovery facility in Anaheim, California, hosted an early Thanksgiving dinner at the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament on November 23, 2019.

The 4-course dinner is accompanied by a medieval show at the Buena Park Castle complete with a two-hour jousting tournament, six competing knights, real weapons, stunning horses, and a live fight at the royal falcon.

Jocel Bibera, alumni relations coordinator of the Lighthouse shared that it was a great alternative to a typical Thanksgiving feast. Not only was the food delicious, but it also showed their alumni that there are sober activities that can be fun and entertaining.

“Our alumni enjoyed the Medieval Times dinner and show for our early Thanksgiving celebration. It provided an entertaining experience for everyone who attended,” Bibera said.

The Medieval Times dinner is only one of the ongoing activities hosted by the Lighthouse for its alumni members. Earlier in the month, some Lighthouse alumni also went to a pirate-themed dinner theater.

John F., one of the Lighthouse alumni said that he always looks forward to alumni events as a way to build new friendships. “Alumni events are the highlight of my week and this event did not disappoint. We had community bonding from being on the same knight’s team and cheering together! It was awesome sober fun.”

N Korean women team to skip soccer competition in S Korea

Dec 6, 2019

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea won't send its women's soccer team to a regional competition in South Korea in December amid strained ties between the two countries. The East Asian Football Federation said Wednesday that North Korea informed it in mid-September that it won't take part in the 2019 EAFF E-1 championship in the southeastern city of Busan. "We feel that North Korea is not participating in the event due to a complicated reason (caused by politics). I think it is something the North Korean football officials cannot handle by themselves," Park Yong Soo, the EAFF general secretary, said....

Seoul unsure if North Korea will air World Cup qualifier

Dec 6, 2019

SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea said Thursday it's unclear if North Korea will allow a live broadcast when it hosts the South's national soccer team for a World Cup qualifier in Pyongyang next Tuesday. Seoul's Unification Ministry, which deals with inter-Korean affairs, said the North has been ignoring South Korean calls for discussions on broadcasting the game live and allowing South Korean spectators to attend. "There has been no particular progress on the issues of (sending South Korean) cheering squads or providing broadcast coverage, so they won't be easy," since there's only a few days left until the game,...

It was four-time F1 champion Vettel's first win since the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix. "Obviously the start of the season has been difficult for us but in recent weeks we started to come alive," Vettel said. "It's been incredible to...

SINGAPORE — Lewis Hamilton aims to turn up the heat in his bid for a sixth Formula One championship at this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver heads into Sunday's race with a 63-point lead over teammate Valtteri Bottas. As with last year's race, drivers can expect sweltering heat and humidity. In addition to the heat, a thick haze has set in over the city-state with advisories issued from the national government over "unhealthy" air conditions. Hamilton will be hoping for a repeat of the 2018 race here when he won comfortably from pole position to extend his championship...
